What is PTE?

PTE or the Pearson test of English language is a computer based academic English language test that is aimed at non native English speakers who are aiming to study abroad. It tests the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills of the aspirants. Questions often test 2 skills together such as listening and reading or reading and speaking.

PTE Total time allotted

  • PTE Test Experience (Unscored): The PTE Test Experience section is optional and does not have a fixed time limit. It typically consists of a few questions related to your test-taking experience and can be completed quickly.

  • Fill in the Blanks, Reading: You will read a passage with missing words and need to choose the correct words to fill in the blanks.
  • Fill in the Blanks, Reading and Writing: You will read a passage with missing words and need to type in the correct words.

Listening

This section assesses your listening skills. It includes the following question types:

  • Summarize Spoken Text: You will hear a short audio clip and need to write a summary of it.
  • Multiple Choice, Single Answer: You will hear a question and choose the correct answer.
  • Fill in the Blanks: You will hear an audio clip with missing words and need to choose the correct words to fill in the blanks.
  • Highlight Correct Summary: You will hear an audio clip and choose the correct summary from the options provided.
  • Highlight Incorrect Words: You will hear an audio clip and need to identify the words that are incorrect.
